Prescient Edge is a veteran-owned small business that was founded as a Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence company in 2008. We are a global operations and solutions integrator delivering full-spectrum intelligence analysis support, training, security, and technology RD&E support solutions to the Department of Defense and other institutions throughout the intelligence community.

Our mission is to develop next-generation mission performance in support of U.S. national security.

Who We Serve


Prescient Edge provides services to the Intelligence, Science, and Technology Communities. We provide best in class expertise in analysis, science, engineering, and threat mitigation solutions for our customers’ global operations across the equities of the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and other agencies in the intelligence community.

What We Do


Our science and technology directorate serves USG National Laboratories, Department of Defense services, and Federal research customers through analysis and integration of physical and information sciences from the fundamental level to the operational deployment of technologies. Prescient Edge offers the Department of Defense and the intelligence community a unique and collaborative model by pairing new cutting-edge technology with the end user to efficiently fulfill government needs.

Executive Bios

 

Alexander Granados - CEO
Mr. Granados is responsible for establishing and executing corporate-wide processes, tools, facilities and procedures to ensure flawless execution of Prescient Edge contracts as well as spearheading the identification and capture of strategic growth opportunities.

Mr. Granados joined Prescient Edge from CACI International where, as Director of the Acquisition Support Group, he was responsible for new business and strategic contracting activities. In this role, he delivered double-digit growth within a Federal market that experienced budget cuts over the same period. Prior to that position, he led a CACI Division as a subject matter expert in government source selections. In this capacity, Mr. Granados has advised the government on over 1,000 major professional services and systems acquisitions source selections. He also served as a contracting advisor to senior leadership for Department of Defense Congressional and Presidential Commissions.

Mr. Granados began his career as a Contracting Officer for the United States Air Force where he provided acquisition direction, contract development, and administration for professional services. Mr. Granados is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and received his MBA in International Business and Finance from the George Washington University School of Business. He is a Defense Acquisition University Level III Contracting Professional and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

Dr. David Grogan – Managing Director, Intelligence and Security
Dr. Grogan is responsible for working with stakeholders across government and industry to develop the Intelligence & Security Division strategy. He manages the division’s day-to-day business and is committed to delivering extraordinary customer outcomes. He brings nearly 30 years of government and industry experience leading organizations responsible for the collection, analysis, and production of intelligence in support of military, national security, and intelligence community consumers. Prior to joining Prescient Edge in August of 2019, he served as a senior executive at the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and as the Director of Analysis at the National Ground Intelligence Center. Dr. Grogan spent 5 years leading corporate divisions at the National Interest Security Corporation, CACI, and Athena
Innovative Solutions. Over a 20-year Army career, he was as an infantryman, intelligence officer, and Middle East Foreign Area Officer. His assignments included operational deployments with the 3rd Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Armored Division, and with U.S. Embassy and United Nations missions. His education includes a Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, a Master of Science degree from the National Intelligence University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland.
Steven Shpiner - Managing Director, RD&E Division
Mr. Shpiner is responsible for leading the Research, Development and Engineering Division, including managing a portfolio of programs and supporting capabilities research and development work, ranging from fundamental research through ACAT 1 Program support across a range of technical domains. Mr. Shpiner’s career has focused on technology development and commercialization in the areas of instrumentation, robotics, and materials for commercial and defense markets. In addition to his work at Prescient Edge, he has experience as a founder at two product and service technology companies: HypoSurface Corporation and Case-X LLC. He has worked in academic research in several capacities, including managing the architectural robotics research laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also served as a research staffer at Northeastern University’s Barnet Institute developing mass spectrometry instrumentation as well as a consultant at Harvard Medical School. He holds one US patent, sits on the Industrial Review Board for the Physics Department at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and is a proud graduate of Northeastern University.
Ricardo Alvarado - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Alvarado has over 18 years of experience in managing accounting and finance operations in the government contracting and nonprofit industries. Mr. Alvarado joined Prescient Edge in 2017 and is responsible for leading the company’s accounting, compliance, and financial strategy functions. He also oversees Human Resources, Facilities, and Information Technology at the organization. During his career, Mr. Alvarado has designed and developed a scalable organizational infrastructure to support growing companies. He has led financial software implementation for several entities and has been instrumental in improving the profitability and cash flow for multiple organizations. Mr. Alvarado has extensive knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Cost Accounting Standards, and Office of Management and Budget Circulars. Prior to joining Prescient Edge, Mr. Alvarado served as Senior Manager for BDO USA. He has also held positions as Corporate Controller for Modern Technology Solutions and Director of Neosystems Corp where he supported clients as CFO/Controller. Mr. Alvarado holds a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration – Finance from Towson University.
Kalani Cotner - Managing Director
Mr. Cotner is a senior intelligence subject matter expert with 30 years of intelligence community experience. Mr. Cotner’s military service includes ten years coordinating security, human intelligence, and counterintelligence operations at embassies in Mexico, Russia, and Romania. He also served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army in intelligence collection and instruction capacity. He spent five years managing global surveillance, counter-surveillance, and surveillance detection operations in support of the Department of Defense and the intelligence community as well as three years as a surveillance operator. Mr. Cotner received his degree in Modern Languages from Angelo State University and three degrees from the Community College of the Air Force for Communications Technician, Interpreter and Translator, and Instructor Technology. Additionally, Mr. Cotner received a Professionalization degree from the National Security Agency as a Voice Language Analyst.
